War, what is it good for?
Absolutely nothing.  Does anyone else feel a certain uneasiness when they’re playing games set in real wars? I was recently playing the new Call of Duty game, Black Ops and couldn’t help but feeling a massive wave of guilt during the levels set in Vietnam. This was really odd for me because usually I take games for what they are, games, but something about playing as a solider in Vietnam made me...

Bulletstorm Demo
The upcoming shooter from EPIC and People Can Fly studios may not appeal to all of you at first glance. The game is incredibly outlandish and silly and possesses a teenage mentality of “Big guns and gore are so cool, I love muscles and swearing”. Yeah this game isn’t all too mature but that’s what makes it so fun! You get points for pulling off “skillshots” which can be used to upgrade your...

The King's Speech
When I first entered the cinema for this I was hit with a sudden sense of dread. “I am the youngest person here” I thought, the auditorium was full of middle aged couples and pensioners, is this film for me? Will I enjoy it? Thankfully the answer was yes, The King’s Speech which at first I thought was an overly-hyped period drama turned out to be a confident, robust and charmingly funny film (a...

Minimal Mac: Freedom From Choice →
minimalmac: Freedom of choice Is what you got Freedom from choice Is what you want – DEVO, Freedom of Choice When you choose Apple, in many ways you are choosing a sensible default. You have made a choice that greatly narrows the field thus making your options, due the the scarcity, that much easier…. An extremely well thought out post about one of the key items of the lifestyle...

Stupid people in Azeroth.
Anyone who has played World of Warcraft will know that the playerbase seems to be lacking the ability of coherent thought. Throughout my years in the game the majority of the players I have encountered have been abysmally dim witted ignoramuses who would struggle to grasp the concept of Pong, let alone a game like WoW where you are required to press like 5 whole buttons! These unfortunate...

Puzzle Agent
Yeah I know, another game by Telltale, the Telltale pack was on sale over at Steam so I had to pick it up. As you’d suspect from Telltale and the title this is a puzzle game, that one’s not too hard to figure out. You are Nelson Tethers FBI Puzzle agent, sent to the isolated town of Scoggins to solve the mystery of the Eraser Factory closure. Plays like Professor Layton but funnier, really...

Tumblr- Think for yourself
I know that this is going to sound hypocritical berating the denizens of Tumblr whilst on Tumblr but I digress. A large population of the “bloggers” on Tumblr have no originality, they never post any of their own content, whether it’s pictures or writing or whatever. I’m talking about the kind of people who just re-blog those artsy black and white pictures of forests, or lampshades, or that cool...

Poker Night at the Inventory- Review
When some of the gaming scenes big hitters (Valve, Telltale Games, Penny Arcade and Homestar Runner) announce that they’re collaborating on a new game you start to get a little excited, when you find out said game is a poker game, not so much. In spite of the dismal premise of a poker game (I mean come on, who actually appreciates poker games?) Poker Night at the Inventory truly doesn’t...
